Für den Abbau mariner Sande in Gewinnungsgebieten ist der Nachweis der Kampfmittelfreiheit erforderlich. Daher sind Kampfmittelerkundungen durchzuführen, um potenzielle Kampfmittelverdachtspunkte zu identifizieren, zu klassifizieren und die Grundlage für ggf. nachfolgende Maßnahmen der weiteren Untersuchung, Bewertung o. Beräumung zu schaffen. Die Untersuchungen belaufen sich auf ca. 10 km²/Jahr. Untersuchungsgebiete liegen im Küstenvorfeld von Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Wassertiefen von etwa 8 - 19 m. Die Untersuchung erfolgt mittels geophysikalischer Verfahren, insbes. Multibeam-Sonar, Seitensichtsonar u. mariner Magnetik. Die erhobenen Daten sind zu prozessieren, fachlich auszuwerten u. als jährlicher Untersuchungsbericht mit den erforderlichen Datensätzen, Interpretationslisten und Kartendarstellungen zu übergeben. Bei Bedarf sind archäologisch relevante Auffälligkeiten, Strukturen oder Verdachtspunkte zu identifizieren, zu lokalisieren u. fachlich zu bewerten.
