The works are located in a predominantly greenfield site located on the Curragh Road R445, and French Furze Road, Kildare. Historically the site was part of the National Stud lands and was severed from the main area by the construction of the M7 Motorway which is immediately south of the park site. The works consist of the following 1. Erection of protective fencing and maintenance of same during construction - all existing site vegetation to be retained and protected 2. Construction of the following a. Approximately 1.3km of new paths with mainly asphalt surface b. North Entrance off Curragh Road Pedestrian: paving pathways and steps in granite and concrete new retaining structures and railings new planting bed with shrubs, perennial and semi-mature pine trees Historic 'Princess Grace' railings to be repaired and restored offsite in accordance with Conservation Architects' specification. c. East Entrance Vehicular and Pedestrian Entrances: New limestone clad walls and gates; Paved areas with cycle parking, gate piers to match main entrance reinforced grass areas ducting for future services and utilities. d. Car Park: Includes car and coach parking, set down; paths; public lighting; EV Charging; SuDS measures and drainage works including connection to manhole in road; planting; cycle parking. e. Temporary Works outside main site include: Drainage Works: opening of road to connect drainage outlet to main drains; paving to public realm landscape planting / grassing to public realm. f. Main Avenue: Kerbing and re-surfacing, with no excavation of existing path to avoid tree root damage. g. Amphitheatre: Grass terracing to form geometric seating terraces. h. New Boardwalk Structure i. Central grass areas with mounding j. Seating areas and Cycle parking k. Council Maintenance Yard with concrete surface and fencing / gates l. Screen Planting and Boundary Reinstatement m. Soft Surfaces - grass wildflower planting Contractors should be aware of the presence of Japanese Knotweed on the site, which is being treated by Kildare County Council. The area is fenced off.
