Das Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Elbe-Nordsee, Standort Tönning, betreibt für die Uferunterhaltung, Baggerarbeiten und Windbruchbeseitigung eine Koppelpontoneinheit mit Raupenbagger. Eingesetzt wird die Geräteeinheit überwiegend im Brack- und Salzwasser der Eider; er ist in einer seewasserbeständigen Ausführung zu liefern. Das Gesamtgewicht des Baggers, einschl. Anbaugeräte, darf aus Stabilitätsgründen 27 to. nicht überschreiten. Zusätzlich ist die Hubkraft auf 2,5 to. bei 12 m Auslage begrenzt. Um vom Ponton aus effektiv arbeiten zu können, muss eine Auslage von mindestens 12 m erreicht werden. Die Auslage bezieht sich auf den Abstand zwischen Mitte Drehkranz und Stielende. Die Traglast bei dieser Auslage soll 2,0 to. nicht unterschreiten. Bereits vorhandene Anbaugeräte wie Holzgreifer, Polypgreifer und Räumschaufel sollen ebenfalls erneuert werden. Der Bagger und die Anbaugeräte sind entsprechend aufeinander abzustimmen. Die Anbaugeräte sind einfach wechselnd zu betreiben.
