Die Kläranlage Hamm-West soll um eine vierte Reinigungsstufe (4.RS) zur weiter gehenden Elimination von Mikroschadstoffen erweitert werden. Hierfür wird eine Ozonung mit nachfolgender Sandfiltration im Teilstrom (1.000 l/s), mit der Möglich keit zur späteren Erweiterung auf Vollstrom, errichtet. Der Ablauf der Nachklärbe cken wird vorab mittels Zwischenpumpwerk gehoben und dem Ozonreaktor zuge führt. Hier wird das gereinigte Abwasser mit Ozon beaufschlagt und anschließend filtriert. Die Herstellung des Ozons erfolgt aus dem Sauerstoffgas nach dem Prin zip der stillen elektrischen Entladung.
