Zwembad De Bronspot aan het Koutenveld 1B in Brunssum is sterk verouderd en kent hoge energie en onderhoudslasten. De technische installaties zijn afgeschreven, de gebouwschil voldoet niet meer aan de huidige eisen en er treden regelmatig storingen en lekkages op. Daarnaast is sprake van asbesthoudende materialen en een verouderde functionele inrichting. Deze combinatie maakt renovatie noodzakelijk om het zwembad toekomstbestendig te maken. Voor de realisatie is een bouwbudget beschikbaar van € 4.793.388,00 beschikbaar.
