La puissance cumulée appelée est répartie en périodes de candidature, s'échelonnant sur cinq années. Pour chaque période, un volume de 50 MW est réservé en priorité aux projets de moins de 1 MWc distants de plus de 250 m de tout autre projet proposé à la même période de candidature. Le candidat dont l’offre a été retenue s’engage à ce que l’achèvement de son installation intervienne avant la date limite définie par le cahier des charges.
